I have needed some personal care time lately like a pedicure, hair cut and eyebrow waxing. So I went to my favorite Salon/Tattoo parlor and got all done. Love the chit-chat that goes on there and it is across the street from my favorite restaurant Chumpo’s where I purchased a beer to quench my thirst will I was being worked on. I feel so much better now that my feet have been done. I should take better care of myself. Here is a photo of the results. Maybe I should have taken a before and after photo too, maybe next time.
Monthly Archives: February 2014
I seem to be in a social whirl these days. Today started with my usual walk to the beach and later I went to the camp cantina for breakfast with some of the neighbors. There was quite a crowd in the cantina and lots of chatting about local events; I had the special; biscuits and gravy.
Later in the afternoon I went to a luncheon held as a fund-raiser for a local school. There was a raffle, and a group of students danced for us and they were cute in their colorful dresses. The fund-raiser was to buy more computers for the school so the children would be better prepared for the higher grades. Lunch was fish tacos, beans, rice and coleslaw and it was good.
Later this evening I invited some neighbors to my house to enjoy a fire in my chiminea we sat around the fire talked and enjoyed an adult beverage or two.
Tomorrow I am expecting my mechanic to show up and help start my RV. Later in the week I will attend Steak In The Park a yearly event put on by the Rotary Club this Friday is the race contingency gathering where the race cars for the Baja 250 are inspected. The race is run this coming weekend. The town will be full of racers and the folks who follow them; hundreds maybe even a thousand people will show up for the event. Then there is the Carnival Parade in town to take in as well. There is so much to do sometimes and other times it is just a laid back fishing village.
Started with a lovely walk this morning. No more ditch in my street and the street looks much wider than before. I’m sure it is just my imagination. I had a nice walk down to the beach and back to the house meeting several nice people on the way. My next stop after the walk was to town for my breakfast club meeting; lots of chatter with nice folks who have a peculiar sense of humor like my own. After the meeting broke up I went shopping and came home.
Later I thought it was time to move my RV back to my house, it has been parked over at the garage here at Pete’s camp. I went to start it and it wouldn’t start not even with a jump from one of those battery jumper things. I called my mechanic, ya I have a mechanic, and as it isn’t an emergency he’ll come over Monday sometime and get it started for me. The RV probably needs a new battery or some other gizmo to get it started.
Later I dropped in on my neighbors across the street to coordinate the Saturday events as there is a Cancer Walk in the morning and I wanted to be at the finnish line and then have a drinks and tacos at a local restaurant. Then we all went to another neighbor’s house for drinks and more chit-chat. Then I came home to watch TV and mess around on the computer will eating dinner.
And so goes my day, not bad EH?
For a while now we have been living with a big construction project that when completed will give the residents town water to their homes. This required ditches to be dug and pipes laid all over the camp. It has made driving an interesting proposition and a resident or two have driven into the ditch on their street. This is all coming to an end the project is nearing completion and the ditches are being filled in today. The construction crew started the process yesterday and they are working on my street today. Having water piped to each house will, in the long run, save the owners money. The more water one uses the quicker the pay back. As a gardener with over twelve trees and lots of bushes I use a lot of water about 1500 gallons a month. This costs me about sixty-five dollars each month to have it delivered with the new system the costs shout drop to about fifteen dollars a month or so I am told. Here are some photos of the construction work going on.
My red car is having a vibration problem at 45 mph. I had my mechanic look at it and it is in the shop. It seems that there is a problem with the transfer case, the car is all wheel drive, could be a bearing that is not expensive, but transfer case rebuild could get expensive. We just have to wait and see what happens when the shop takes it apart.
