January Update

We had a cold spell a while back and got to use the fireplace. This experience was disappointing as the fireplace smokes I think the flue is the problem as the masons put a cap on the chimney and that interferes with the flue drawing well. Besides that problem the wood available here is mesquite and this variety stinks when it is burning and the ashes stink long after the fire goes out making the house, at least for me, not so nice. I also have a neighbor who has a palapa very close to my house and that structure has a roof made of palm fonds and they are very dry and I am concerned that a spark from my fireplace will set their palapa on fire. Considering these problems I have decided to convert my fireplace to gas. Gas is readily available and I have an LP tank already so I contracted for a gas line to be put in. I found another neighbor that was selling his gas logs and got them at a good price. When all this gets put together I hope that the problems will be solved and I will have some heat from the fireplace as well as a safe and nice flame to view.
