Here are a few things that I do in San Felipe Baja Mexico: I have lunch now and then with the ladies
I have breakfast with the Lizards, that is what we call ourselves 🙂
Here I am at Sharky’s restaurant Punta Banda
Travel; Here I am having a look at the Bufadora (blow-hole)
Getting an eyeful in Ensenada
Garden; This tree still has some flowers from this Spring
Attend local events photo at the Taco Factory during the fiesta
Explore the area with friends and enjoy an adult beverage or two 🙂
enjoy beautiful sunsets; Very colorful sunset after an overcast day
I also do the mundane stuff like chores and shopping for groceries and getting fuel for the truck and cleaning house; I leave the heavy cleaning for my housekeeper that I have come in once or twice a month.
Yup, I’m living the life 🙂
I always water everything on Wednesday and Sunday. So, today being Wednesday I am watering my garden. I was on the roof watering the plants there and took some photos of the sun coming up out of the Sea of Cortez around 5:45 am. I could hear the gulls on the beach sounds like the fishing is good.
I pruned the mesquite tree closest to the house as some of the branches were hanging down and touching my head and others were rubbing against on another, which is not a good thing. Pruning seems to stimulate growth; at least I hope it does.
Here are some photos of the sunrise this morning, most mornings the sunrise is beautiful today there are clouds because it is monsoon season in Mexico across the Sea of Cortez and like yesterday and last night we got a shower which is nice but does little for my plants and trees.
I am having a patio put in the garden because when I sit in my chairs on the gravel the chairs keep settling down and it is hard for me to get out of the chairs and walking on gravel is not pleasant with flip-flops. My contractor and I have had discussions about how big and where it will be and now how high the bricks will be sticking out of the ground. So far the top-level of gravel has been removed and more sand has been added to make the ground level. Today three men have worked on this project, seems there is more to laying bricks on the ground than meets the eye.
The plan includes space for a fire pit, I have one I have never used it uses real wood. I’m not fond of using real wood because of the smoke I may buy a portable camp fire from Camper’s World to use and avoid the whole smoke in the eyes thing.
Here are photos of the work so far;

My next post will be when the work is done and I have put some furniture on the Patio.
Summer in San Felipe this year is not so bad by my experience. June and July had wonderful days where the temperature was in the low 90’s there were nice breezes and the nights got down to the low 80’s. Then came August and the heat and humidity was on full blast. The temps went to 100 – 105 and the humidity shot up to the 80’s. The sweat dripped off my nose when I was gardening even in the very early morning hours around 5am -6am. The AC was going full blast all day and all night my electric bill was evidence of that 847 pesos (!) about 50 dollars, Ya I know poor me 🙂 Now that we have city water I can water abundantly and my garden shows it! Most things are growing very well and I have been pruning and pruning more as some plants and trees are going through a growth spurt. Other plants are not doing as well as the heat is too much for them and they struggle to stay alive.
I made a trip with friends over to the other coast the 1st of August for the annual Chili Cook Off at Las Salinas Inn and Bar. The turn out was very good and the weather was perfect. I got to do some shopping and ate at some lovely restaurants – all my favorite things to do. I also got to puppy sit my neighbor’s dogs three cute little fur kids, it was fun having the attention they give and taking care of them for a couple of days.
Now back in San Felipe and in my usual routine of tending the garden in the morning then breakfast with the ad-hoc breakfast group called the Lizards. The banter in the morning is good for socialization and I get to do a few errands while in town like grocery shopping paying a bill and visiting the local plant nursery for more flowers.
I’m including some photos to show how the garden is doing;
The green bushes in the pots are Poinsettias they will turn red later
Sitting area on the Veranda the french doors go into my bedroom
Looking down the front wall now covered in bushes
The trees covering the North side of the house the brown gate is my neighbor’s
The gate to the garden from the street
The front of the house faces west and is shaded by trees and bushes now
