Summer in San Felipe this year is not so bad by my experience. June and July had wonderful days where the temperature was in the low 90’s there were nice breezes and the nights got down to the low 80’s. Then came August and the heat and humidity was on full blast. The temps went to 100 – 105 and the humidity shot up to the 80’s. The sweat dripped off my nose when I was gardening even in the very early morning hours around 5am -6am. The AC was going full blast all day and all night my electric bill was evidence of that 847 pesos (!) about 50 dollars, Ya I know poor me π Now that we have city water I can water abundantly and my garden shows it! Most things are growing very well and I have been pruning and pruning more as some plants and trees are going through a growth spurt. Other plants are not doing as well as the heat is too much for them and they struggle to stay alive.
I made a trip with friends over to the other coast the 1st of August for the annual Chili Cook Off at Las Salinas Inn and Bar. The turn out was very good and the weather was perfect. I got to do some shopping and ate at some lovely restaurants – all my favorite things to do. I also got to puppy sit my neighbor’s dogs three cute little fur kids, it was fun having the attention they give and taking care of them for a couple of days.
Now back in San Felipe and in my usual routine of tending the garden in the morning then breakfast with the ad-hoc breakfast group called the Lizards. The banter in the morning is good for socialization and I get to do a few errands while in town like grocery shopping paying a bill and visiting the local plant nursery for more flowers.
I’m including some photos to show how the garden is doing;
Julia, your place is just beautiful!!!!!!
Thank you for your lovely comment. I love to garden, making things grow is my thing π
You are an amazing one-woman show! You have done so much to your little hacienda in the last few years. I am proud to call you a neighbor and friend!
Thank you for those kind words they are much appreciated you are always so kind it is a pleasure to know you.
I sometimes wonder what I will do when I run out of room to plant more trees, bushes and flowers? I’ll figure it out π
This is just so beautiful, so wonderful! I love how you live with things a while, then figure out how to improve and tweak them and then get the job done. Lovely, just lovely!
I love a project can’t do the work myself as much as I used to but still love planning it and being part of the process.
