Update on health

Just short of two months post-op double by-pass and feeling well for the most part. I still have some occasional pain in the sternum area that is not debilitating. My energy seems to be improving as I can now walk (slowly) two miles a day and I don’t need long naps so much. I thought with the walking every day I would lose weight but that hasn’t happened. I have adjusted my diet to limit salt and fat as much as I can. So, not losing weight has frustrated me. I can drive myself to town and do my own shopping still don’t feel like driving to town at night for dinner. I think that I’ll feel better about driving to town soon as I’m getting more stamina every week. Tonight I’m going to the local Camp Cantina for dinner with neighbors it isn’t far from the house. I like their Taco Salads, they are very well done and tasty.

Next week I plan to drive myself to El Centro CA for a doctor’s appointment. My Cardiologist recommended that I have a GP locally and the appointment is next week. I’ll go up to the “Old Country” the day before and stay in a motel overnight so I’ll be rested for the appointment with the new doctor. After the appointment I’ll do a little shopping and return to San Felipe. Hopefully all will go smoothly.

Further update for the month of June;

I have been able to enjoy some social visits and now can drive long distances as long as I use my special belt to minimize my back pain. I have driven by myself to the “Old Country” several times including a visit to a new General Practice Doctor in El Centro CA. She sent me for a mammogram and a bone scan both are unnecessary and the lady at the mammogram clinic was so rude I got up and left. Long story but for some reason I seem to attract health care professionals who are either rude, uncaring, and or incompetent, my tolerance of such people has gotten shorter as I get older.

I have been more socially active going in town for breakfast, joining neighbors for the full moon gathering and dining out in town. This improves my spirits and give me an opportunity to socialize and feel more engaged with others. I still get tired from time to time and need to rest for a while a short rest and I’m almost back to normal. I have been tending my garden myself and it feels good to out in the early morning working on the garden.

I also have been taking care of myself by having my hair colored and a pedicure at a local salon. Getting these done improves my looks (I think) and my self-esteem. here is a photo of me and my friend Irene getting our pedicures.

The ladies doing the pedicures were caught off guard they usually are smiling and joking while they work and they are very dear to me.

Now it is the fourth of July weekend there will be lots of parties and fireworks hopefully all pets will be kept safe so they don’t run away and get lost.

That’s all for now will chat later.

Flowers everywhere and Spring just started

The colors of the flowers in Ajijic are amazing and they are grown, it seems, everywhere. The mountains behind the village as the locals like to call Ajijic are still brown. Soon the rainy season will start and the sides of the mountains will turn green and as each plant comes into season there will be bright splotches of color. For now we must do with the color of flowers in the gardens in the homes here. For now I’m enjoying the colors in the gardens I visit; today I’m in the garden of the B&B Angel Flores with a peek over the wall to see the neighbor’s gardens. There is a gentle breeze from the lake and soft music playing in the background accented by a rooster or two and now and then the clip-clop of horse going by ….. life is good, very good ๐Ÿ™‚

Another beautiful day in San Felipe Baja MX. My gardener lady showed up this morning and we had a long talk about the garden and what trees to plant so I will have shade on the north-west side of the house and the rain causing a flood problem. I also talked to her husband and he will help me plant the trees when I get them and he makes tables with mosaic tops and I’m going to have him make one for my house-custom made for my height so I can use it for food preparation as well as for eating and having coffee. I already have two lovely chairs for the table. We talked about the mosaic design something using the sun and moon and sparkly stones or grout to set it off. They will return tuesday and we’ll talk more about the table and plants.

I have already made one trip to the plant nursery in town to scout for plants. They have petunias in various colors and I will buy lots of those. I am looking for geraniums in various colors too, I love the bright colors and green fuzzy leaves. I would like many more plants and even some vines growing around the iron work to break up the starkness of ย the black iron. I can hardly wait to get started collecting and planting the new additions.

I am watching an ant that strolled into the house, he/she looks like a scout looking for food I an wondering if I should get up and step on it , but it is interesting to watch it doing its search pattern and it isn’t bothering anything right now so I will leave it alone. Interesting what amuses me these days.

I have found that several people here have been following my blogs and have expressed their condolences over the loss of Shelby. There are many pet lovers here and they have in some cases several dogs and cats. So the bond between pet lovers and the loss of one of our dear pets is shared amongst us.

The ultra light aircraft are flying today; we have several people who fly these little planes and one of them gives rides. Maybe one day I will get up the courage to go up in one – that is if I don’t weigh to much ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Oh, I went to breakfast at the local camp restaurant and cantina and met other residents there and we all had brunch and “Caesars” a Caesar is a drink made with clamato juice vodka or gin if you prefer, with a salted rim and the usual celery stick and a slice or two of green lime. I like it better than a Bloody Mary. This drink was invented by a Canadian restauranteur and I started having them last year when some Canadians introduced me to the drink. Try it, it is a delicious drink-some Mexicans pour clamato juice into their beer for a refreshing drink. I think I’ll have one this afternoon with my lunch ๐Ÿ™‚

I am slowly getting the house set up with the things I brought down from the “Old Country”. I hope to get the RV emptied out so I can give it a thorough cleaning, this going to take a while. I also have some repairs to be done here in Mexico.

It is evening now and it is a pleasant one with the sun setting and temperature slowly dropping into the evening levels that are pure comfort. My Canadian neighbors think it is hot here and I think it is perfect-it all depends on what your used too. I am looking forward to another pleasant night’s sleep. ย ย

Five guys

Five men tiny kitchen

Yesterday I had up to five men working in my kitchen. That’s a lot of men in a tiny kitchen. The tile work is coming along in both the kitchen and bath and should be done this week. I may even have sinks installed this week also. I got three new light fixtures installed; one in the hallway, one in the kitchen and another over the kitchen sink (or where it will be).

The tile work is looking very nice and the tile man is a very careful, if slow, worker. but with tile it is best to be right then fast one lives with the tile for a long time.
